Cube and Section are paired sculptural works made from water-jet cut pink polystyrene and black neoprene rubber respectively. Section refers to sectioned architectural models and presents a cut away version of the cube. Built up from a base of four identical units, each sculpture consists of a group of 2" thick layered motifs based on the design of an 18th century tile. The three dimensional form is essentially "extruded up" from the two-dimensional pattern. This work is one of several that use decorative motifs as building blocks in grid based, modular constructions.
