Façade is a wall drawing of cut self adhesive vinyl in the gallery of the Maison Patrimoniale de Barthète devoted to faience tiles from France and The Netherlands. The work was made in response to the museum's collection and draws specifically from the underlying geometry of Dutch tile designs. Façade was influenced by wall scale tile installations, but contrary to expectations of unity and repetition in such surface décor, several pattern systems intersect in the work. |
